Close to my Heart

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a nice weekend. We did a lot of errands and I spent untold hours working on reorganizing my scrap room. I am still not done but I am starting to see imporvement.

It's Monday and another challenge is up over at The Cuttlebug Spot. This week we all created something for July 4th. I used a digi image from Alison at Stretch N' Bubbles. Alison named this image "To Honor Our Heros".

This iamge hits close to my heart. My Dad was a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. I grew up hearing all the stories about his life in Europe during those terrible times. My Dad passed over 19 years ago, but I still remember standing at his grave holding the American flag that covered his cofin.

Our family celebrates July 4, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day as a celebration of my Dad, as well as the thousands of others - past and present, that help to keep our nation safe and strong.

This image is available here at Alison's shop. I printed her out on white cardstock and again on the red stripped paper for her dress. The rest of the image is colored with copics. The stars behind her were embossed with the Cuttlebug folder "Stars." I popped her off the paper for added dimension. I sponged red chalk aound her and glittered the stars in the flag for a litle shimmer..

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Marcy

Girlfriends

Hi All,

There's another Unscripted Sketch up today to get your mojo going. There are all kinds of exciting things happening over at US. The DT is getting ready for a special "Christmas in July" month-long party. Every day in July, there will be something new posted on our blog. Whether it is a spotlight on one of my DT sisters, a new sketch, challenge or game...it will be a blast. So go over now and take a peek at the first BINGO game we have planned.

I used a digi image named "Girlfriends" designed by Alison at Stretch and Bubbles. You can find this adorable image here in Alison's store. I colored these cuties with Copics. The sentiment is a clear stamp from Inkadinkado and the flower is Prima.

I hope you all have a super weekend. I am reorganizing my scraproom...I am happy and scared at the same time. WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH ALL THAT STUFF????

Hugs,
Marcy

Wishing you Love

Hi Guys,

I am very late in posting this one. I was away on vacation in Florida, visiting my kids, and forgot to schedule the post. But I am back now and here is my tag for the new challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot. This week the DT were all to design tags of any kind.

I made a tag and a holder for it to present as a card. I used several Sizzix and Cuttlebug embossing folders. The flower was made from EK Success' scallop circle die. The top of the tag was cut with Nestabilities Fancy Labels. I added some flat-backed pearls for a finishing touch.

I have so much to do tonight to make up for my week away, so this has to be short post. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment and I will be happy to respond.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs,
Marcy

Special Thoughts of You

Hi Everyone,

It's Saturday, so it's time for another new sketch up at Unscripted Sketches. This week, I flipped and inverted the image...in other words...you really have to look for the sketch...but it's there!

I cut the flowers with Tim Holtz's flower die for Sizzix. The flourishes are aptly named "Flourishes" by Sizzix, too. The glitter paper is from American Crafts and is sooooo delicious. The dp is from DCWV La Creme stack.

Have a great weekend!

Relaxing at the Beach

Hi All,

Don't you just love relaxing at the beach in the summer? This image is the epitome of a summer moment. Of course, I do not look like that in my bathing suit. LOL

This digi image was created by Alison and is available at the Stretch N, Bubbles store here. I used my copics to color her. I cut a square all around the image except the umbrella, which I cut out on the image line. I really like this technique. I chalked the sky and sand for some added depth.

The paper is from a stack by Me & My Big Ideas named Starfish. I bought it last year on sale at the end of the summer and I just love it! The sentiment is computer generated.

Thanks for stopping by today, I really appreciate it!

Hugs,
Marcy

Grandma's a Hoot!

Hi and Happy Monday All.

I hope you had a great weekend. Today is Monday, so you know there is a great new challenge up over at The Cuttlebug Spot. This week Nilda asked us to create a scrapbook layout. Well, for me that's easy, I am scrapping all the time!

Two weeks ago, when my kids were visiting from Florida, we went to visit my MIL; the kid's Grandma. She is 84 and quite a unique lady. She is a firecracker and her hair color reflects her personality!

I used Cricut's new cart Create a Critter for the titles and owl (love that cart) and Cuttin' Up for the subtitles. The flowers are an old Cuttlebug 2" x 2" die, but I cannot remember the name...sorry! I embossed the titles with my fave folder from Sizzix called Snowballs.

As promised, here are the rest of the photos from the purse album I made for my niece. (Go back 2 posts to see the cover and first pages)

Have a great day everyone.

Hugs,
Marcy

Unscripted Saturday

Happy Saturday Everyone,

Today there is another great sketch up over at Unscripted Sketches. As you can see, I turned it around and flipped it. That is the beauty of these sketches, you can really take the same one and turn it into so many different layouts. Go check out the DT projects and you will see what I mean.

I used my favorite Tilda (actually, she is my only Tilda for now, lol). I colored her with copics and popped her off the scallop nestie. The sentiment is from one of those $1.00 Gina K clear stamps...gotta love 'em!

I will post the rest of my purse album tomorrow because I am running off to meet family!!

Hugs,
Marcy

Fun In The Sun

Hi Everyone,

I haven't made a "Designer Purse Album" in ages, but when I saw this week's colors at Color Throwdown, I knew I had to make a summer album. I used to make these purse albums all the time to sell on Ebay. I sold scrapbook layouts and albums for years, but I got tired of the frantic craziness of the Ebay "life" so I stopped. Now I only create for myself and my family and friends.

Anyhow, as I said, I haven't made one of these beauties in a long time so I made a template that reminds me of a beach bag, cut chipboard pages and dived right into selecting papers and embellishments.

I made this album for my neice in Florida. I do all her scrapping and she appreciates it so much, so I love to create for her. We are going to visit them next week and I will give this to her when I arrive. I put my great nephew, Shane on the cover, but the rest is blank so we can add pics that we take together while we are there.

I used this week's sketch from Mojo Monday for the cover.

I will post the rest of the pages tomorrow.

Have a great one,
Marcy

Hello Friend

Hi Guys,

Brand new to The Cuttlebug Spot are sketch challenges!! Every second Monday of the month, Nilda will post a new sketch. Use the sketch any way you choose, just be sure to use your Cuttlebug for either cutting or embossing. Go on over and check out the wonderful projects my DT sisters made using this sketch.

Here is the sketch. Thanks to Aymee for designing the sketch this week.

I followed the colors from The Play Date Cafe I photographed this card at least one dozen times, but cannot get the colors to show true. They really all do match. LOL They don't look it, I know. The stamp is Penny Black. The papers and ribbon were in my stash, so I don't remember where they are from. I colored the cute little mouse with copics. The embossed scallop is Cuttlebug's Bloom Dots. I cut the edge along the circles and sanded the paper for that distressed look.

Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Marcy

Hey Buddy

Hi All,

It's Saturday, so that means there is a new sketch up at Unscripted Sketches. There are also some new changes unveiled on the blog so go on over and check US out!

This adorable image is from Stretch N' Bubbles. It's named Boy Toys and you can find it here. I colored the image with copics and gave the frog and sling shot a nice coating of Diamond Glaze. The sentiment was computer generated.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Don't forget to check back on Monday when we post our first sketch challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot!

Hugs,
Marcy

How Sweet You Are

Hi and Happy Thursday,

Isn't this the cutest little Fluff Ball ya ever saw? It is a freebie image from Alison over at Stretch N' Bubbles blog. Alison has changed how she distributes her free images. It's called a progressive challenge. I've noticed many digi stamp sites are doing this lately. It's easy to follow...The first Wednesday of every month Alison will post a freebie digital image. All you have to do is make something using that image.

When you finish, post it on your blog or on line gallery and upload it to the link on the blog. You must also link your post to Alison's store. Then the next week, Alison will give you another free image. You follow the same rules and you will receive the next free image. And so on! So to sum it up...you must use the first image to be eligible for the rest of the month's freebies. It sounds complicated, but really it's easy!

I chose colors from the new Color Throwdown challenge #95.

Have a great day.

Hugs,
Marcy
